Our wine is a conquest, heritage of an ancestral knowledge that has passed throughout many generations of the same family and that now reaches glory and success. This is the wine for the 21st Century that takes you travelling through your senses, in a magic and surprising experience, where your most inner inspirations attain its achievement.
This range of wines organizes 5 different wine profiles that give meaning to 5 moments of pleasure, and like the fingers of a hand, are suitable for different occasions.
They are not arranged by Appellation, as it is used to be done in the so-called “Old World”, but they follow the order of flavors, sensations and inspirations. For this reason the Follies brand pays a tribute to our Century and its values such as knowledge, pleasure, eccentricity, tradition and spirituality.

In Architectural standards, a Folly means a decorative structure, with no particular use, eccentric and symbolic erected by someone who nourishes a particular taste for turning his/her dream in reality. An example of pure art, with no criticism from others and that Aveleda is proud to own. Just like pleasure that can be enjoyed not because we need it, but because we want it, we feel it.
Each one of our FOLLIES has a very peculiar story to tell related to each wine. Therefore, all of them celebrate each folly with its representation on the label.
THE FOUR SISTERS' FOUNTAIN
Aveleda FOLLIES Alvarinho
 ELEGANT AND SOPHISTICATED.
A very peculiar monument located in front of the façade of the manor house at Quinta da Aveleda is the Four Sisters’ Fountain. It is a fine example of the regional granitic sculpture, characteristic from Northern Portugal, this beautiful fountain represents the cycle of Life in constant metamorphosis and where de beginning gives its place to the end, gaining new life then in a new dimension.
Erected in the 1920’s, the Four Sisters’ Fountain was finalized by the master sculptor João da Silva who engraved the profiles of the owner’s daughters, and each one of them was born in different seasons of the year. THE GOAT TOWER

AROMATIC AND COMPLEX.
In a reverence to Nature and to the previous generations of the Guedes Family, a three-floor tower made of rock, with a wood spiral ramp around it was created in order to house the estate’s goats.
Being a symbol of fertility and abundance, the goats represent how this land has always given its best to those who work with this same spirit of adapting to nature in order to get better benefits for both. View Flash presentation.

THE MANUELINE WINDOW

 FRESH AND DELICATE.
It was in the city of Oporto that Henry, the Navigator was born in 1394, in a house where many Kings had stayed before when visiting the city. Part of that house was demolished but Manoel Pedro Guedes da Silva da Fonseca kept the remains of this peculiar Manueline style window that belonged to the room where the visionary man was born. It was then placed in the middle of the great lake, at Quinta da Aveleda.
Reminding the great period of the Portuguese Discoveries, this folly is a source of inspiration to all those who have a look at it, taking your breath and making you travelling through your imaginary. View Flash presentation.

THE FOUNTAIN OF OUR LADY OF VENDÔME
Aveleda FOLLIES Cabernet Sauvignon | Touriga Nacional
SURPRISING AND ORIGINAL.
This beautiful fountain is dedicated to Our Lady of Vendôme, saint patron of Oporto. From the green man made of granite, crystalline water pours, silently passing in front of our feet, until it whispers again in two small fountains, where a dolphin in a shell reminds the maritime journeys that the wine produced here is submitted.
For this special blend, Our Lady of Vendôme veils for its origin (France) with the Cabernet Sauvignon and for the famous grape variety characteristic of the Port wine, the Touriga Nacional melted in a surprising blend. View Flash presentation.

THE HOUSE OF AGUIEIRA

INTENSE AND HARMONIOUS.
Once upon a time, there was a house that belonged to a famous politician and wine-grower from the 19th Century, the Viscount of Agueira. His estate, located in the charming lands around Águeda, disclosed in itself one of the major secrets: the art of producing fine wines, being the first producer bottling red wine in the region.
In 1998, Aveleda acquired this wonderful treasure and has enriched it more and more, with the help of the famous French winemaker, Professor Denis Dubourdieu.
